Do you like to train digital journalists?

Alright, I am building a new ‘database.’
Ooh. that sounds sexy, does it not?

OK. Dull boring word for a file that contains a sparkling collection of teaching talent. Your talent - if you fit the bill.

I am recruiting top journalists who know how to teach Web video, multimedia blogging, database mashups, online communities, widget scripting, mobile-journalism techniques and more.

There are new training ventures for Robb Montgomery Consulting and also the digital journalism non-profit, Visual Editors. More and more of my clients are asking for more and more specialized training and are also asking me to organize and produce custom training events.

For example, all next month I’ll be delivering private training for newspaper and design agency clients in Europe and then in March I have asked Craig Duff to join me in Hershey Pennsylvania to teach three immersive days of advanced video and audio journalism at America East. In April I’ll be training journalists in Europe and Canada.

And that’s just the start. If you pwn top digital-J skills, love to teach and have a passport - please send me your contact and topics using the contact form. As I put together new workshops - I want to partner with more colleagues to provide new, critically-focused multi-media training events.

In early May, Visual Editors will launch a new series of digital journalism workshops in Chicago.

I have top instructors joining me for the first seminar series on Web videoAngela Grant of the San Antonio Express-News and David Dunkley-Gyimah of viewmagazine.tv

Future VizEds master classes will provide focuses on mobile journalism, podcasting, mapping, social network tools, multimedia blogging, rss feeds for reporters and more.
You can be a part of this - to deliver the training on the Web-centric, multimedia skills that modern journalists need to compete and succeed today. Training
These seminars are designed to have wheels. Already I have heard interest from top editors in Canada and Oceania who want to host future VizEds seminars. Contact me if you are interested in hosting a VizEds training event. There are benefits to supporting the charity.

So, we are slowly rolling out the news about the Chicago workshops.
Any link love you can give would be great.

And, if you have a passion for podcasts, are mad about data-driven mashups, dream in CSS and know a little javascript I want to talk to you about the topics you’d be willing to teach your colleagues. Either at a VizEds event or other digital journalism training event I am producing.

See? ‘Database’ can be a sexy word after all.

Here is a sample reply I just got from Will

Hey Robb,
Cool. For the talent database, I’ve taught:
- Video editing and filming (FCP, Premiere Pro, and the low end imovie/windows movie maker)
- Photo editing and shooting
- Flash
- Design and usability
- Blogging
- Social media tools
- SEO optimization

Cheers,
Will
