In Syracuse? No, I am stuck on a deserted island!

Sandwiched between the rusty Port of Palm Beach and the beachfront homes of the ultra-rich, camping on Peanut Island is a surreal experience and anything but quiet.

I would have been tempted to go to Syracuse to witness the giant design competition that the Society for News Design is hosting this weekend. Some of the top design minds from around the globe have been invited to judge the contest this year. I like talking with sharp, talented people but I have never felt the desire to gather in this frozen hinterland. I had someplace warmer in mind for my winter retreat. A place like Peanut Island.
