BERLIN: Check out this poster designed by the promoters of my workshop this week.
I am producing a one-day “Writing for the Web” course at KircherBurkhardt Akademie on 28 January and a couple of weeks ago they asked me to imagine the title of the talk as a movie name.
MONACO: Mathias Döpfner opened his interview segment at the Monaco Media Forum with the stunning news that the German media giant’s newspaper division is showing a 25.4% profit.
“If print is a dead business, then this kind of death feels pretty comfortable for me.”
No kidding. Springer is riding in the opposite direction of almost every other western media house. Yes, Arianna Huffington is also on stage but is clearly outclassed in this discussion.
Berlin: These photos show the very cool touch tables at the recent gallery exhibition in Berlin held at the Martin Gropius Bau. The collection featured 60 years of German art and these Flash interactives (In English and German) let patrons learn more about the art all around them.
Sixty influential artworks are on display in Berlin to celebrate Germany’s 60 years of statehood. The exhibition shows milestones of German post-war art - painting, sculpture, photography and installation – from 1949 until 2009.
Under the title ‘60 years, 60 works’, the exhibition features one piece of art for each year between the founding of the German state in 1949 and the present. Sixty short films accompanying the artwork give visitors an overview of important events in Germany from each year and elucidate the external influences that shaped the works.

From $150: Learn New Media, Multimedia and Web Video - Berlin Workshop
Monday September 7, 2009 - Friday September 11, 2009
KircherBurkhardt
Berlin, Germany
A full week of new media classes - from Writing for the Web to editing in Final Cut Pro. Pay only for the training you need or buy a multi-day pass and attend all the sessions.
Camp Video Journalism - Orlando focused on training the next generation of educators. We had several K-12 teachers as well as college students taking the course and while I could certainly write more about MY impressions from the sessions, I think it might be more beneficial to relay the feedback I just got from Camp VJ student and Kalamazoo, Michigan educator Anthony Gettig.
Thank you so much for CampVJ Orlando! Lance, Kristen, and I really enjoyed our time in this beautiful city and learned so much during our stay.
Ken, your hospitality was very generous. Thank you for being such a gracious host. I appreciate the opportunity to get to know you a bit and share some great stories. Thanks too for the encouragement about my coffee video podcast. Valencia is blessed to have a great professor like you there.
Leading a video editing class at KircherBurkardt in Berlin, Germany.
A quick update about the three-day video class I will be producing for Camp Video Journalism in Berlin, Germany next month. If you are thinking of attending this video editing workshop in Europe, please register soon. The response for this event has been strong and past video training workshops have sold out.
The event will take place at the world-class KircherBurkhardt publishing house in central Berlin and I will be joined by German video journalist Kristin Jankowsi who produces news films for Der Tagesspiegel.
Great news! For the March 17-19 video journalism training, Visual Editors has a great host in KircherBurkhardt. KircherBurkhardt is the famous German editorial design firm and is donating training space and facilities.
I did a few days of private multimedia training with KB staff last year and my friend, Lukas Kircher has opened up his shop to allow this event to take place for anyone who wants to learn how to tell Web video stories better. Walking into KB is like entering Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. It is Germany’s largest information graphics operation and it is an amazing place to come practice multimedia.
All proceeds benefit the Visual Editors charity.

Some of the best photos I have seen from the Obama Inauguration week have been taken by amateurs. The New York Times is inviting ordinary shutterbugs to post up documentary images from D.C. They even link to this amazing gallery from their home page.
Robb Montgomery produces new media workshops to train journalists and media professionals in more than 20 countries in writing for the Web, multimedia reporting, and Web video journalism.
His hands-on seminars include interactive learning techniques, live demonstrations and expertise in teaching new media concepts to professionals.
