Robb Montgomery is the CEO and founder of Visual Editors
As an independent consultant he works with top media houses in Europe, North America and the Middle East to develop new prototypes for news products and to design multimedia and cross platform newsrooms.
He also produces training that grows visual and digital literacy within organizations.
He has worked as a USAID contractor in the media development field since 2006.
Montgomery has redesigned several newspapers including the Chicago Sun-Times and San Francisco Examiner.
He previously worked as an editor for the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune.
His hands-on seminars include interactive learning techniques, live demonstrations and expertise in teaching new media concepts to professionals.

Produce original documentary/editorial films
Montgomery produces original films for the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association, Egypt Media Development Program, USAID, IREX, Green Power Conferences.
He has been documenting his five year travels to the world’s newsrooms for a new project called “Breaking The News,” which promises to be a feature-length film that bears witness to the disruptive changes affecting journalism around the world.
Redesign and develop new products
Robb has redesigned several newspapers including the Chicago Sun-Times and The Examiner in San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
He designed a community-driven prototype for the San Jose Mercury News business section with key editors.
Robb is frequently hired as a catalyst to develop new ideas and strategies with the executive group. He is hired to produce multi-day “New Product Development” workshops for these leaders and to work with their senior management teams to rapidly develop and pitch new concepts — a skill of increasing importance as media houses are now required to bring new products to market quickly in print and digital.
