This media jobs project is called Media Professionals and is something I have been tinkering with off and on for a couple of years. Now is the time to take this jobs feed to Twitter and Plaxo where more journalism job seekers are going these days.
The easy thing to do is follow @media_jobs on Twitter and lots of great media jobs will feed into your stream.
The second thing is Plaxo. Think of it as a “Facebook for Grownups” or a LinkedIn for people who actually like to network with colleagues. I am beginning to like Plaxo more and more for professional purposes. Why? it flawlessly syncs up my thousands of contacts and busy calendar events and now I can see nearly all the latest activity from my colleagues in one place. So its really suited to integrating all the data I need and save me a lot of time.
Also - Plaxo let’s you have groups. So I created a Media Professionals group there and within minutes a couple dozen of my contacts joined in from around the globe. Hmm. The latest Facebook scare is pushing us all to, perhaps, feel the need to move beyond Facebook with our work stuff.
So, maybe all you just want is the RSS link to the Media Professionals feed to put into your reader. Fair enough. That’s why I built it. Now go get a great job and don’t forget to tell me about it.
