Tremors 4: The Legend Begins download
Sound is the highest value multimedia asset that modern journalists must master. Audio quality is the first thing an audience will judge you by and instantly brands you as an amateur or a professional.
I have been doing audio multimedia consulting for correspondents who cover the EU Parliament in Brussels for the last few months and I’ll share some of the expertise I have gained in recording and mixing sound for better the part of my life.
The video above was filmed at the Apple store in Paris where I was invited to speak about video journalism and share techniques for reporters and editors who are handling multimedia stories - You can see how important sound is to video by the amount of time I devote to the subject.
Don’t Skimp. On Audio.
It’s is the last place you want to look at dollars before common sense. If you invest wisely in audio it pays you back with all the multimedia you produce, Podcasts, Soundslides and Video.
The quality of your audio stand for the quality of your brand much more than you think. Look at what real multimedia pros spend for their sound budgets.
Almost as much money goes for mics, limiters, XLR connections, windproofing and isolation as it does for cameras and tripods.
Reporting and editing with “High definition” sound is far more valuable than spending the money first gathering “high definition” video.
Make it the fist money you spend - never the last.
I’ll be producing a private training session with about 15 of these reporters in mid-March.
