I am in Sweden leading a team of student VJs who will produce video reports in Gothenborg at the World Editors Forum. This film catches up with me as I make a short stop in Berlin. Includes scenes from recent stops in Paris, Berlin and Cairo and sets the stage for the World Newspaper Congress and World Editors Forum taking place in Goteborg. There are over 1,800 participants from 130 countries meeting here for the congress.
I have arrived in Berlin after an all too short visit in Paris where I spent time with cherished colleagues and made new ones at the IFRA and SND joint visual journalism confab. It was a two day event held in the Trocadero district (Across from Eiffel tower) at the ultra-luxe Apple executive briefing center. Some video to follow - I filled three tapes over two days, SOTs (Interviews and pieces to camera), sequences in the rain (the never-ending rain!) and plenty of B-roll.
A new video from Cairo about the innovations and developments in Egyptian newspapers-with a focus on the new design techniques being used to deal with a more competitive media environment. With commentary by Akhbar and MENA chairman, as well as Cairo U professor and Media Development Program Chief of Party. Video also highlights work being done by USAID-funded Media Development Program with its Egyptian media partners to develop their training centers.
The week working with journalists, publishers, editors and students has finished and it’s on to Paris for a lecture on Web video for IFRA and SND.

I shot and shared a lot of film here in Cairo and a few new movies will follow as I steal time away to edit them into worthwhile films. The crowd attending the IFRA/SND gig at the Apple Executive Briefing centre will be the first to see the new stuff I have developed from my recent experiences with producing Camp VJ and other video and new media training events in Canada, Croatia, Pennsylvania, Italy and Germany.
The visual journalism event in France will have me placed along the Seine River facing the Eiffel Tower. Should be nice break to only have one event scheduled for three days and I will take the chance to dine with Parisian colleagues and catch up on things. At least I will not go hungry!
