Why you want to make your videos embedable - Exhibit A

Hello, are there still media people who think it is a good idea to only serve up your videos inside your walled garden of a Web site. (Ahem - don’t make me name, names . . .)

I love this video - a good example of how to embrace the viral nature of a the network age with good content. In the socially-networked, media referral era (Young media consumers are more likely to share content they like with their mates) producing original, branded content and posting it where the audience is makes sense.

Merc journalist photo documents impact of depleted newsroom staff

Sometimes the hardest pictures a newspaper journalist makes are the ones they take of themselves during hard times. San Jose Mercury News designer Martin Gee has posted a photo documentary of the effects of several rounds of layoffs and buyouts in his California newsroom. You can feel his heart breaking in captions as he recalls former colleagues and the spirit they brought to the newsroom.
