This interactive video project by David Dunkley-Gyimah illustrates what is possible by a solo producer/reporter when they think outside the linear mindset of broadcast production.
Recently David invited me to asked me to film a video question for an exclusive interview session he had arranged with the BBC’s multimedia newsroom chief, Peter Horrocks.
He also asked a few other international journalists to do the same and then presented our queries to Mr Horrocks during the course of his interview. David also asked a colleague to film the making of this event and the first packaging of this unique combination of assets is what David calls a “Vlog butterfly.”
He has first assembled a Flash interactive in which the Web visitor drives the interview and controls who asks the questions, when and in what order.
As a proof of concept this page is really instructive. David’s project clearly illustrates how Web video is not Television and I can’t wait to see how he mashes up the material to produce other options for attracting and engaging people in an interview with a top media pro.
