Yes, I am concerned for this as well. I am glad to be polluting less with my VW. I am comforted that nearly all of my airplane trips are not selfish, pleasure trips but rather teaching trips that benefit many, many journalists. Not just those I work with at the event but in the online sphere as well.

You won't find a more avid fan of the online productivity as me. For example, just before I wrote this reply, I finished critiquing Egyptian newspaper page designs using Flickr, skype conference called Berlin contacts and SMS text-messaged London about upcoming projects.

I am lucky that I can work virtually most of the time and I conduct much business via Web sites, SMS, e-mail and through conference webinar technologies like Breeze or Go-to-meetings.

Still, there is only so much that can be accomplished in the online world and offline face-to-face exchanges are still vitally important in the mix.

Does it tell you how much CO2 your trips produced? :-)
I'm quite proud of my low travel distance too. Not traveling by plain much any more. Used to commute to Sydney from NZ, but then one day figured out how much carbon it produced and insisted on electronic means of having meetings. It worked to some extent, but corporate people are not very receptive to it yet.
