Study shows rapid adoption of video and social networking sites.

A new global study about video and social networks conducted by Ipsos Insight research reveals a strong surge of the trend before our eyes:

Props to Tech Crunch for re-blogging the Ipsos press blast about this new study on video and social networks.

As the founder and developer of Visual Editors, I have seen these trends acccelerate over the last few years in my work serving our members journalists. We have have made significant strides in providing more video and expanded social networking capacity. This study confirms many trends we have seen in the different global regions we serve.

The report’s author, Brian Cruickshank, says “The frequency of visitation to social networking websites globally implies that many Internet users are no longer simply ‘trying out’ these sites, but rather adopting social-networking as a significant part in their evolving digital lifestyle.”

The Face of the Web 2006 study was conducted in November and December 2006 among a random sample of 6,553 adults in urban Brazil, Canada, urban China, France, Germany, urban India, Japan, urban Mexico, urban Russia, South Korea, the U.K., and the U.S. You can learn more at their Web site.

Yesterday I filmed a web video of a presentation I now give on my iPhone to potential sponsors and donors for the non-profit that runs the social network for journlaists. In one sense, this clip neatly convenes the converging trends for social and interactive visual media without consciously trying to do all that.
