The new U.S. passport pages are, gasp, beautiful to behold.

Face time with Facebook

“MySpace or Facebook?”
That’s one of the first questions I have been asking editors-in-chief in my travels the last three months and the answers have been surprising. More on that topic later, I have finally have had my bags unpacked in Chicago long enough to update my Facebook page and invite my friends in.

Robb on Facebook

I had been holding off doing too much with F’Book until the new widgets were released. I have a found a few I really like already and also found that Yuri Victor has started a Visual Editors group on Facebook for supporters of the public charity and addicts of the Web site.

Eric White

Brain never seems to rest

Robb’s brain never seemed to rest. He always has his finger on the pulse of what’s next in the worlds of technology and journalism. He brings technical skill, imagination, speed and an almost kid-like enthusiasm to his roles as a webmaster, news design consultant, new media consultant, photographer, speaker, educator, musician…..I mean, really, what doesn’t the guy do well!

Mercury News gig and the job that got away

It had been six years since I spruced up my resume and I wasn’t really feeling a particular need to when up popped this job description in my NetNewsWire RSS news reader back in November.

I was intrigued by this offer and, for a quick reality check, I asked a friend in Paris, Bertrand Pecquerie, for his honest advice about this job at Northwestern. He responded instantly, ‘It is you!”

John Wilpers in Boston

Top qualities: Great Results, Personable, Creative

“Robb Montgomery has three main attributes that virtually guarantee he will deliver what you need: the first is his almost encyclopedic knowledge of newspaper/web design and function (his world encompasses print, web, photo and video); the second is a creative genius that enables him to find mission and design solutions most consultants wouldn’t even dream of; and the third is an ability to get along with everyone, from paginators to chief executives, balancing all their needs in such a way to make everyone feel they had a part in the solution, achieving that all-important sense of buy-in.

Robb has boundless enthusiasm and a seemingly limitless supply of ideas to help make our profession better. I can’t count the ways Visual Editors has helped me in my professional career, especially through the educational and networking opportunities.
